Welcome Wednesday: The Ultimate Vacation!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Right now, my wife, kids and I are getting ready to enter Universal Epic Universe! This is something my wife and I have been planning for a number of years. We don’t do extravagant vacations often. In fact, our last “big“ vacation was a week in Italy back in 2012. Many years before we had either of our kids.

My question for everyone this week: If you have already been on your “Ultimate“ vacation? I’d love to hear about it! If you are still planning? I’ve love to know where you are planning to go.

Welcome to my neck of the woods, @Jimmy Seddon! I hope your wait times for rides are not as bad as I've heard about.

My ultimate vacation? In 2016, I did a 15-day cruise from Rome with my parents and my niece, with stops in Italy, Greece, Turkey, and back to Rome. At the end, my parents stayed on the ship for the transatlantic crossing (oh to be retired with a good pension), and my niece and I spent a couple of days in Rome. It was amazing.

A close second place—the nearly 2 years I spent living and working in The Netherlands at the end of the 1990s was a wonderful, long vacation where I got to see much of Europe while people paid me a lot of money to do a job I loved.

Enjoy your vacation @Jimmy Seddon ...

We did a 2 weeks trip to France and Italy last year in Sep only! I really liked Rome/Florence, good weather, food and very strong and beautiful architecture. The pictures would automatically become beautiful because there is a lot of art in the background. 

I think the next we would like to do Japan. It might take a lot of planning with the Kids but I believe we can do it.

Hope you have an amazing time, @Jimmy Seddon - definitely will be an EPIC trip!

Last year, I was able to take a trip to France to visit while my mom spent a month there. Then, later in the year, my husband and I went to Japan for 10 days. Both were amazing! With the kids, my favorite trips are typically to California where we get to spend time with family mixed with lots of fun activities. The kids are hoping to go to Japan someday with us, too. Of course, while we were there, we kept thinking about how much the kids would have loved it...while we were meant to be having a bit of a break from the kids, ha!

Epic Universe + Super Nintendo World sounds like the perfect “ultimate” trip—hope you and the family have an amazing time!

My dream itinerary: a Japan rail hop—Tokyo → Kyoto → Osaka—with a day of Mario Kart mayhem, then a quiet onsen town to unplug. Runner-up: Iceland’s Ring Road for waterfalls and (fingers crossed) northern lights.

I think my ultimate trip would be a trip to Iceland or Finland. I love cold, and the kind of nature found in these countries fascinates me. Also, I would never run away from a good sauna, which is something even the dogs there have!

One of our best vacation was trip to Alaska to see the northern lights in winter 🌌 and also enjoyed the spectacular view of a magical forest near the Arctic Circle which we had only read in books in school :)

But still our ultimate trip would be to Iceland to see the northern lights up and close from there just like @Teodora V _Fun Inc_ 😍
