Welcome Wednesday: The satisfaction of finally completing "that" task!

Wednesday.gif

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

This past weekend I finally said enough is enough!  I've had a number of boxed and bag full of things from moving last year in the back corner of my office that I still hadn't unpacked.

Well it's done now!

It took most of the day Sunday, but I have everything unpack and all my posters hung in my office.

There was a great sense of satisfaction around finally getting this done and I'm really happy with how everything looks.

My question for you this week: What have you completed recently that has left you proud of the work you have accomplished?

If nothing comes to mind, let this be a call to action to finally take care of that thing you have continued to put off doing.

Have a great rest of the week!

Congrats on finally tackling the unpacking, @Jimmy Seddon — it really does feel great to clear that kind of mental and physical clutter!

For me, it was setting up my very first Atlassian Community Event! It took me quite a long time to prepare — from coordinating logistics to making sure everything runs smoothly, as this is the first time. It’s been such a rewarding experience, and I’m excited to finally make it happen. 😊

Btw, if you’re in the region or may be around, join me! 👇🏻

Congrats @Anahit Sukiasyan!  I can only imagine how scary it is to setup your first event.  I wish you all the best and I hope it goes very well!

Happy Wednesday, @Jimmy Seddon

I'm pretty sure that Procrastination is my middle name. I have been meaning to go through the lower half of my closet and get rid of things I don't need (and find things I put on my shoe rack shelves and forgot). You have inspired me to do this over the coming weekend. I should probably set a reminder on my smart home device. 😁

@Jimmy Seddon your "unpacked" picture reminded me of the "I Spy" books we loved to read with our son when he was a wee tot...so many treasured memories.

@Barbara Szczesniak every time you post a comment I want to respond with "Me too!" Being a procrastinator magnifies the sense of accomplishment for me.

So, I ponder what is on the list that I can knock out this weekend...

Thanks @Natalie Beiler!  That ends up being my zoom background and it's great conversation starter.

Good luck to both you and @Barbara Szczesniak on your "To Do" lists this weekend!

I hate having some pending items on my backlog, but also, life is lifeing, and I am not always able to do the desired work on time. Just this morning I said "that's enough" for my empty balcony pots, so I now have a few new edible plants to grow over the spring period. It felt good, but as always, I already know how to improve it, so it's (kind of) back on the backlog :D

I'm a huge fan of checking off lists, but have to agree with @Teodora V _Fun Inc_ about life "lifeing"!! This past weekend, we did get a bit of the spring yard work done. This coming weekend, I hope to work on getting the garage in order but have so many other obligations lined up. I'll probably add it to the calendar during the "breaks" between other activities so it doesn't fall off my radar!

Wow @Jimmy Seddon  - There's a lot going on there! But so neat and organized!. Having moved several times in the past 10 years, it always feels really good to get everything unpacked and in their place.

As usual, @Barbara Szczesniak posts and it resonates!

I was packing for a weeklong work trip to Montreal, QC, Canada (so close @Jimmy Seddon but so far!) two Sundays ago, and while looking for appropriate clothing for the weather I had to dig through a few items I had not worn or even seen in a few years. I took an hour break from my trip prep and emptied out my closet. I filled 2 full garbage bags with clothing that will never be worn again, another bag with cycling kit from the 2015-2020 period that was either too worn out to wear or too ugly to ever consider wearing, and yet another bag of t-shirts collected from various conferences and events that really don't fit my style. All of the 'good' items were set aside for donation. I had 17 empty hangers when it was all said and done!

While I should have completed my trip packing quicker, I left for the airport with a real sense of accomplishment and have enjoyed opening my closet doors ever since!

I do get a lot of my side projects to about 90% completion, they are always good enough that I then start on other projects.  The rare time that I push to 100% I do get a great level of satisfaction. Which is why I have this theory that I don't finish things, my procrastination isn't about being lazy, it's banking future satisfaction.

First - well done @Jimmy Seddon

This spring, I finally started working on some garden improvements I had been putting off for years. It's still a work in progress, but taking that first step felt great - and I'm really proud of myself for getting started. The goal is to have a refreshed and improved garden by autumn!
