Hi everyone,
A recent change in Issue Templates for Jira requires Jira admins to take action for the functionality to work as expected.
Users can now create issues based on a selected template directly from the native ‘Create issue’ screen, without needing to open the app dialog.
However, for this to function properly, a specific Jira setting—UI modification—must be enabled in selected projects.
Enable UI modification in relevant Jira projects.
Without UI modification enabled:
Users can still select a template but won’t see which fields have been pre-filled until after the issue is created.
The app won’t be able to modify the ‘Create issue’ screen directly.
Since admins rarely need to modify Issue Templates settings, we will notify them through:
📌 Template repositories and the app’s admin panel
📩 A dedicated email with a direct link to a new admin module for setup
📖 Documentation (click)
The email will direct admins to a new standalone admin module for UI modification setup, as this functionality cannot be integrated into the existing configuration panel due to Jira’s technical limitations.
If you manage Issue Templates in your Jira instance, please enable UI modification in relevant projects. To do that, go to Jira and click Manage Apps -> Issue Templates for Jira > Advanced.
Let me know if you have any questions.
