How can I view a version in big picture if it has no issues in it?

I have a master Gantt that displays multiple projects (defined in the scope). 

I would like to view (and move) the version dates and compare their dates across multiple projects, before adding tasks to the versions.

But I cannot show an empty version on big picture.  help?
