Hi everyone, 👋
I’m Hamza, from Communardo Products.
Jira offers a wide range of possibilities for tracking and managing work progress, from boards and dashboards to reports and custom fields. Every team has its own way of staying on top of tasks, deadlines, and results.
Learning how others approach this can inspire us to discover new methods, optimize our workflows, and make better use of Jira’s features.
In today’s poll, I’d love to hear from you: How do you track work progress in Jira?
Please take a moment to vote and feel free to share in the comments why this method works best for your team. Your insights might spark new ideas for others in the community.
Thanks so much for participating and sharing your experience! 🙌

Great question, @Hamza_Communardo Products! 👋
In our team (we’re developing the JetTime app for Jira) we use our own tool daily to track progress. Here’s what works for us:
Developers log their time directly in Jira issues using JetTime (we always test it on ourselves first 😉).
Managers review reports broken down by project, sprint, or custom fields.
In our case, we often use a custom field to track the version we’re working on — this makes it easy to see how much effort each release required.
Since JetTime runs fully on Atlassian infrastructure, we don’t have to worry about data privacy.
For us, progress tracking = clear reports that connect time spent with project milestones.
Just curious — is this poll part of building a new progress-tracking app?
Thanks for sharing, that’s a really smart setup! The poll isn’t about a new app, just to learn how different teams track progress. 😉

It's an interesting topic. We track work progress in Jira by updating issue statuses on Kanban boards, using time tracking to log time, and utilizing reports like burndown and burnup charts to visualize progress against goals.
I voted for the below options :

Appreciate the insights, Anwesha! Using Kanban boards together with time tracking and reports is a solid approach. Dashboards and JQL queries definitely make a big difference in visualizing progress.

Hi!
Thanks for starting this discussion, it’s always interesting to see how different teams track work in Jira.
In our company, we tested a few different ways to monitor progress, but what really clicked for us was using the SLA Time and Report app for Jira. We initially adopted it to track SLAs for support tickets, but we’ve ended up using it more broadly. It’s especially helpful for identifying bottlenecks across workflows. It wasn’t the obvious solution at first, but it’s definitely helped us improve how we track progress, especially for time-sensitive tasks across departments.
Just thought I’d share in case anyone’s exploring similar options!

Thanks for adding this perspective! Love the idea of applying SLA tracking outside of support, a great reminder that tools can be flexible.
