Hi folks!
We currently use a plugin called User Profiles for Jira to pull in certain attributes about a user from AD. For example, their department, their direct manager, their job title, etc.
What we like:
What we don't like (and are trying to solve for):
Example use case:
A service desk team wants to create a dashboard that displays a breakdown of completed support requests by the reporters' departments to easily track where most of the requests are coming from.
Do you have suggestions for alternatives that would allow for this level of detail on dashboards?
If you need to query the fields and use them in other places, like dashboards or other reporting apps, I recommend Mindpro Sync. I work at Mindpro and believe the app fits your use case (at least I think it covers most of them).
The app lets you sync all the main attributes from different identity providers (Entra ID/Azure AD, MS 365, Okta, OneLogin, and Google Workspace) and map them to Jira read-only custom fields. This means you can use these fields in automation, Jira search, JQL, and any apps that read them:
The app allows you to display these attributes inside issue screens. It provides a way to display the hierarchy, groups, and set approvers using the manager information (there are also post-functions for additional workflow approvals):
If you want to share this information with internal or external customers, you can also choose to display these attributes or the hierarchy in the Customer Portal:
If you hover the mouse over the hierarchy panel, the system shows the basic information about that user:
I hope that covers most of your requirements.
Regards,
Eduardo

Hi Ashley,
I'm with the Rich Filters team. Are you on Cloud or DC? I believe you're using Jira DC, but just wanted to confirm.
In any case, if the attributes from User Profiles for Jira are available in JQL, you should be able to filter by them using Smart Filters. When you say, "These values can't easily be filtered on Jira dashboards," could you clarify what you mean?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi @Ashley Honeycutt ,
Thank you for using our User Profiles for Jira.
We would like to gain a better understanding of your specific use case so that we can assist you effectively.
You mentioned, “These values can't easily be filtered on Jira dashboards.” However, it is important to note that UPJ’s custom fields can indeed be utilized in standard JQL queries, and consequently, in all dashboard gadgets that rely on JQL queries (potentially through Saved Filters).
What may not work, however, is the use of our custom fields in certain gadgets for grouping or reporting. We would appreciate it if you could clarify whether this is what you are referring to.
Please feel free to reach out to our Support team through the official Support channel: Product Support.
Best regards,
