Is anyone willing to share how they are using Octo - Component management for Jira

Even a simple screenshot of your components page would be helpful. 

We are using this in a very narrow scope: the areas of our product (Charts; Reports; Forms; Workflows etc)

However, I believe we could be using this app to achieve more that keeping a consistent list of product areas across multiple projects.

I have used Octo Component management in the past for clients that need components to be sync across multiple projects or Org wide.

If your products are being tracked in Components then this would be a create use case and benefit you very much.
