Has anyone experience with the free testrail plugin?

We are using testrail and consider the start using the plugin, assuming that it will give us visibility on testcases linked to the Jira issue and that it can tell the results of the test.

Hi @jeroen_wilmes

The free TestRail plugin for Jira gives you basic visibility- it shows which test cases are linked to a Jira issue and their status at a glance. But it’s mostly read-only and doesn’t sync data or test results into Jira in a structured way.

If you're looking for more than just a visual link like:

  • Automatically syncing test results and execution status into Jira
  • Mapping test cases to user stories, bugs, or epics
  • Maintaining traceability between requirements, tests, and defects

If you are looking for a less technical alternative. OpsHub Integration Manager, an enterprise - grade integration platform and an Atlassian Partner is one such option you may consider. It allows full integration between TestRail and Jira, including:

  • Bidirectional sync of test cases, runs, results, and related fields
  • Linking work items in Jira to test coverage and execution history
  • Keeping both tools aligned so testers and developers don’t have to jump between systems

This helps when QA and Dev teams work in different tools but need to stay in sync for audits, releases, or defect tracking.

You may also refer to our Atlassian marketplace listing on TestRail- Jira bidirectional integration

Good luck with your integration journey!
