Hello everyone, I would like to see if anyone knows a script that I can plug in so I can find out the exact time in status for an issue. Important note, we do not have access to script runner as of right now. However, we have used a script to calculate story points on a JQL search and this work for us! So basically this story points script functions when you plug in a JQL to the search and it will calculate a total amount of story points from the JQL and it will show you how many issues do not have story points.
I want to do something similar to this. What I am looking for is to save a script in my bookmark bar (like the story point example) and insert an issue link to the search (or a JQL to the search), run the script and it tell me how long an issue (or group of issues from the JQL) they are in a status. Note: if the group of issues isn't possible, that's fine I am happy to copy and paste one issue link to the search bar and have it return the time in status for me.
Attached is a picture of what the story points script looks like. When I click on it in my bookmarks, it gives me a prompt that drops down and I paste the JQL in there and within 15 seconds it returns the result.
Hello @Brandon Ivey
For such an aim, you can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud, which tracks time in status data and gnerate a report based on this data.
You can present time in status data directly on the Jira card layout without entering the add-on) - what is very convenient and time-consuming.
Also, you can discover an article about the Time in Status and how to track it.
This add-on is developed by my SaaSJet team. Please, let me know if you have any questions.
Hope it helps
For a readymade solution, If you would be interested in a mktplace app, you can try out our plugin,
The add-on provides the time in status report for each issue in your filter. There are multiple other reports which help in tracking the complete life cycle of the issues.

Hello @Brandon Ivey
In the script route, you will need to build separate scripts for each metric and as the number gets higher, it is a nightmare to maintain them.
I don't have a script but I do have an app recommendation.
If you are OK with using a marketplace app for this, our team at OBSS built Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira for this exact need. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.
Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status. The app also allows the user to filter and sort issues based on these times.
The app has Consolidated Columns feature. This feature allows you to combine the duration for multiple statuses into a single column and exclude unwanted ones. It is the most flexible way to get any measurement you might want. Measurements like Issue Age, Cycle Time, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc. Filter and Sort options are also available for Consolidated Columns.
For all numeric report types, you can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total in-progress time per customer (organization) or average resolution time per sprint, week, month, issuetype, request type, etc. The ability to group by parts of dates (year, month, week, day, hour) or sprints is particularly useful here since it allows you to compare different time periods or see the trend. (Filter and Sort options are even available here.)
The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well. It supports both Company Managed and Team Managed projects for Jira Cloud.
Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.
