I'm creating a Structure.Gantt for visualising the current plan for my jira issues, and I want to share the gantt view with my stakeholders, but I can't figure out how best to do this. I want to ensure that when they open the structure, they see it with the default view (i.e. the columns that I have set most recently as default) and with the Gantt layout.
I can only find 2 options:
1. Share the link to the structure. Then it opens up with the default view, but the layout will be single grid as default
2. Share as a perspective. Then it opens up with the view at that point in time, and with the gantt layout. But then if I later add og change a column, then I need to share a new perspective. (which is annoying because I have a relatively large number of stakeholders, and several structures that I maintain)
Anyone who has a 3rd option?
I don't know a way to save a view that will open with the Gantt showing. For the management of the columns you want to display and their order, I stopped using perspectives because 1) every time you make a change to the layout the URL changes and users still go to their old bookmarked version, and 2) it expires if not used.
I switched to creating custom views (named the same as the structure) and then make them the default for the structure, and shared as public. This lets you send a single URL for the Structure that never changes, but always matches your latest columns.
Hello @Johannes Laustsen
Sharing the Perspective link is the only solution that we can recommend. There is no functionality for starting a default layout in Structure - the Single grid mode is opened every time when a structure is accessed via its direct URL. Only the Perspective link allows to present a structure in a customized way when a link is opened.
