Past quarter’s highlights
This set of enhancements helps admins upgrade to cloud with more precision, control, and confidence. From selecting only what you need to preserve functionality during the move, these updates make cloud migrations smoother and more reliable. |
Migrate only what you need with space and project selection in JCMA and CCMA
To simplify migration planning, both Jira and Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (version 3.11.12 and newer) and Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (version 1.12.36 and newer) now support CSV-based space and project selection.
Admins can now download a pre-filled CSV from the “Upload CSV file” button on the selection screen when creating a migration plan (see images below). This allows you to:
Filter and manage your selections using familiar spreadsheet tools
Remove spaces or projects you don’t want to include
Upload the edited CSV back into the tool to apply your selections
|
The system will automatically validate the file for invalid or duplicate keys, and provide clear error messages if anything needs to be fixed. Once validated, you can proceed with your selections in just a few clicks.
Migrate public entities with logged-in permissions
When migrating data to the cloud, any entities that were previously publicly accessible (viewable by anyone on the internet) will now, by default, be migrated with permissions that require users to log in to access them. This means only authenticated users can view these entities after migration, though there is an option to retain public access if needed. During migration, a preflight check will alert users to any entities with public access, allowing them to either accept the default logged-in permission or choose to keep the entity publicly accessible. This change enhances security by reducing the risk of unintentional public exposure, ensuring stronger data protection from the start.
Migrate Automation for Jira rules from Data Center to Cloud seamlessly with JCMA
We’ve made it easier to migrate your Automation for Jira (A4J) rules from Data Center to Cloud. Previously, migrating these rules required manually exporting and importing automation data—a workaround that we recognized was less than ideal. Based on strong demand from the community, we’ve built a solution to seamlessly migrate your A4J rules, saving you time and reducing hassle during your upgrade to cloud.
Keep links functional during Cloud-to-Cloud migrations
When migrating Jira or Confluence Cloud to a different cloud site, links between entities used to point to the original source site, resulting in broken links that needed to be redirected to the new destination. Previously, fixing these links required contacting Atlassian Support. To simplify this process, link fixing for Cloud-to-Cloud migrations is now available directly in admin.atlassian.com.
This feature allows you to bulk update broken links, making post-migration cleanup faster and easier. Additionally, we’ve enhanced our link audit reporting to provide clearer insights into why some links failed to update. These updates improve both Cloud-to-Cloud and Data Center-to-Cloud migrations, with expanded support for more link types—like boards, service desks, pages, blogs, and more. See the full list of supported apps and link types and explore examples and use cases for updating links.
New insights here help you better understand your current environment and strategically plan your upgrade to cloud. |

What's next?
Migrate Assets (formerly Insights) from Data Center to Cloud with ease
We know that migrating your Assets data (formerly Insights) from Data Center to Cloud is crucial to getting the most out of cloud. However, manual process of migrating and reconfiguring this data can complicate your upgrade to cloud. To simplify this migration, we’re building a seamless solution in JCMA that will migrate your Assets data to cloud.
Thank you!
That’s a wrap on the 2025 Q2 Cloud Transition Round-Up! We’ll be back next quarter with more updates and insights.
