Am I an admin?

deckers91 May 10, 2025

Hi! I'm stuck.

1st - Let's say I were an admin, is that a user role that is given in a project, repository or workspace?

2nd - How can I tell I am an admin? There has to be a list of users (there is only me in my workspace) where I can see - John is Dev, Jane is Maintainer and MD is Admin.

Thanks, I think if we figure this out I can handle the rest. ✔

How to tell if you're an admin:

https://bitbucket.org/<username>/workspace/settings/user-directory

Actions > View access

In my example it says:

"As an admin of this workspace, <NAME> has admin access to all repositories."
---
While my test user is a group member and that group gives him his permissions for the Workspace.
So Admin seems to be a role, at workspace level.

And to wrap this up - you can add users to your repo AND give them the role Admin via

https://bitbucket.org/<username>/<repo-name>/admin/permissions

This point is called "Repository permissions", and when adding a user you can give him the role "Read", "Write" or "Admin".

This concludes my sanity check on roles and user management.
