I just enrolled in a bitbucket trial.   I should have about 50 build minutes, so I am assuming pipelines are supported.   My account is setup with TFA, and I have logged out and back in to confirm TFA.   The repo settings for pipelines does not allow me to enable pipelines, saying TFA is required.   But I am logged in with TFA.   Is there some other setting that I need to enable?

Hi Robert and welcome to the community!

Does this concern the Bitbucket Cloud account with the same email as your community account?

If so, I can see that 2FA is not enabled for this Bitbucket account, but it is enabled for the Atlassian account with the same email. For Pipelines to be enabled, 2FA needs to be enabled for the Bitbucket account.

You can disable the Atlassian account 2FA here:

and then enable the Bitbucket 2FA here:

You will also need to set up SSH keys for your account in order to be able to enable Bitbucket 2FA. You will see a message about this in the second link I posted, along with a link to our documentation:

Please feel free to let me know how it goes and if you need further assistance.

Kind regards,
Theodora

Thanks that was the problem.  It's confusing that the avatar within bitbucket takes me to the atlassian profile settings but changes were required to the bitbucket profile settings -- i did not realize there were two distinct accounts.

Hi Robert,

You are very welcome, I'm glad that the issue has been resolved.

Just to give you some context: Atlassian accounts are used for authentication in Bitbucket Cloud and in other Atlassian Cloud products, like Jira and Confluence. This is to provide single login with the same account to multiple Atlassian Cloud products (for users that may use multiple products).

Bitbucket had an existing 2FA implementation before Atlassian accounts were introduced. We have a request in our issue tracker to unify those in order to avoid confusion and the need to enter a 2FA code twice, if both are enabled:

Kind regards,
Theodora
