New Atlassian changes come in various forms, requiring different levels of learning for admins and end users. We recognize that some changes require more preparation, and the standard rollout timeline can sometimes lead to unintended disruptions for end users. Starting today, Enterprise-entitled Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence products on the Continuous track will include an option to temporarily defer changes, giving you additional time to prepare your organization.
Due to the nature of Atlassian Cloud’s rollouts, new changes are continuously added on a rolling basis. This means that upon opting into this capability, new changes with the option for deferral may not be available immediately, which is expected. To fully take advantage of Defer Rollout, we recommend checking back regularly to see which new features have become available for deferral.
Visit admin.atlassian.com and select your organization (if you have more than one).
Go to Products > Product Updates.
Locate Have more time to prepare for changes and click on Allow admins to defer rollouts > Allow to opt in and start using Defer Rollout.
Visit Product updates > Have more time to prepare for changes
Click on Allow admins to defer rollouts > Allow to opt in
Once you’ve opted into Defer Rollout, follow these steps to temporarily defer the release of new Jira, Jira Service Management, or Confluence changes to a later date:
Select Defer rollout > Can defer
Select any release note in this view with (X days left to defer)
Click Defer rollout to Month Date, Year in the blue box
Confirm temporarily deferral by selecting Defer rollout
Please note that Release track settings will affect eligibility to opt-in to Defer Rollout:
Defer Rollout applies only to Enterprise-entitled products currently on the Continuous track.
By default, all Enterprise-entitled products are on the Continuous track and are ready to start using Defer Rollout immediately.
Defer Rollout will not affect any products currently on the Bundled release tracks.
If your Enterprise-entitled products are currently on the Bundled track, you may choose to switch some products back to the Continuous track to try Defer Rollout.
For Cloud Enterprise customers transitioning from the Bundled track, Defer Rollouts provides the predictability and accuracy of the Bundled track regarding feature rollout timing, while also offering the flexibility of the Continuous track. This allows organizations to adopt new changes more quickly, deferring only those changes considered disruptive.
You can learn more about the release track settings, including the Continuous and Bundled tracks, in our support documentation.
