We're an international team, and some regions write it as 1,5 instead of 1.5
However, in Jira you are forced to enter numbers as 1.5
as it'll tell you 1,5 is an invalid number.
Is it possible to configure Jira to accept both decimal separators when entering numbers?
Hi @Michael E
Even if it was possible, I advise strongly against allowing the practice of using both decimal point conventions.
On one hand, it's a question of entering the values. On the other, it's about interpretation - for both the humans and the machines. Suddenly, you have TWO ways of interpreting 123.456 and you have to rely on on secondary/circumstantial signs to make the judgement.
Spreadsheet formulas won't work with the input, format, and language settings are not aligned (the issue I ran into with a recent expenses claim :) ).
My native language uses a decimal comma, but over the last two decades of working in multinational environments in media and IT, I adopted the period which as a common denominator for decimals.
The numeric field does not support any character except a dot.
But you are not using this numeric field in any calculation in automation rules then you can use the short text field which supports all the characters.
