Calling GMail from Confluence, possible?

gavin.langford August 10, 2020

Our Incident Management Process is documented on a Confluence page. When an incident kicks off, several stakeholders need to be notified with different information.

The process currently, is create a email in GMail, copy and paste the various components from the Confluence page guide.

Ideally, I want to click and create a template from Confluence like mailto (which doesn't work with cloud based mail services). Any ideas?

The likes of Pager Duty (all the big names in fact) do not have the muliple templates for different stakeholders capabilities on different conditions.

Thanks for any pointers, it's currently a real pain and prone to error, cut and pasting, in the heat of a major issue.

Hi @gavin.langford !

I'm not as well versed on cloud as I am on server/DC so please bear with me.  A quick hit might be to use the Multi-Excerpt add-on to create a series of base pages containing many parts from which situation-specific pages can be populated through combining different sets of excerpts to address different situations.  Those situation-specific pages could then be sent to the appropriate recipient using the "share" function when that type of incident occurs.

Hope this at least gives you some ideas,

~~Larry
