Hello,

at the moment we are using a 10 user license of Confluence.

We now also want to start using JIRA and maybe Bitbucket too.

  1. Is it possible to run all three applications in parallel in the same virtual machine?
  2. Are there any known incompatibilities between the applications?
  3. Is it recommended to run all these apps in a single virtual machine in a 10 user setup?
  4. Is it recommended to run all these apps in a single virtual machine in a 100 user setup?
  5. Is it best practice to use a single virtual machine per Atlassian application?

I know: It depends. For me it is only important to get a rule-of-thumb advise.

Thanks,

Martin

1. Yes, but make sure it has the resources needed to run them all, and have local storage for the Jira and Confluence indices.

2. No

3. If the VM is powerful enough to cope and has the local storage for indices

4.  See 3

5.  Personally, I tend to do separate machines so that I know that if there's a problem with one service, it's localised.  But you really don't have to as long as you pay attention to points 1, 3 and 4.
