Confluence permission can not maintain

Dear all, 

We use ubuntu server + postgresql database . We would like to update confluence from version 4.2.3 to 5.8.10. But we found we can setup permission for individual account at confluence 4.2.3. After we update confluence 5.8.10, we can not setup permission for individual account. Please kindly help us to solve the question . Thank you.

Can you confirm that you have either changed some permissions or added new permissions for Stephan when you try to save. 

You should also check your logfiles in case any reason is recorded in there when your save does not work.
