How to add a user in Confluence?

Chris Jarvis April 3, 2019

How do I add a user in Confluence?  I can see where to edit permissions. I can delete pages.

But  I cannot find a way to add a new user.

I think the question here is how to add users to the space.

@Chris Jarvis , are you space admin?

there was such a question earlier:

You can add a specific user like this:

  1. Open Confluence.
  2. Click Spaces.
  3. Click Space directory.
  4. Click Space Details icon beside to Space to update. information
  5. Click Permissions.
  6. Under Individual Users, click Edit Permissions.
  7. In field under user list, enter users name and click Add.
  8. User is added to space.

However, it might be better to add a group of users. This way, you can add/remove users from the group instead of assigning specific users directly to a space:

  1. Open Confluence.
  2. Click Spaces.
  3. Click Space directory.
  4. Click Space Details icon beside to Space to update. information
  5. Click Permissions.
  6. Under Groups, click Edit Permissions.
  7. In field under user list, enter the group name and click Add.
  8. Group is added to space.

Thank you, I could not find this earlier.

This allows me to add an existing user to a Space. I need a step before that to add a new user. Or more to a point a test user to

I cannot see the  User management tab mention in the earlier reply.

So you need Admin permissions, like Diego told.

Or ask your Admins to make your Space public - it makes possible anonymus(with out logg-in) to read your articles.

OK, good. We can't make the Space public, so I guess the Admin will have to make the new user.

Hello!

You need Admin permissions, check this doc:
