JQL Query - Limit the Number of Characters Returned from Jira - Display X Number of Characters?

Hello,

I am using the Jira JQL macro within Confluence and am displaying multiple columns, including the description.  Some of my issues have very long descriptions and result in very large pages.  Is there a way to limit the number of characters returned with a JQL query?
