Abbreviate the email notification subject with project key instead of full project name

As an admin, I would like to know how to " Abbreviate the email notification subject with project key instead of full project name"

The project titles are very long and make the notification subjects hard to read, especially in mobile devices. So, can any one please help me to do this ?

It won't be possible in Jira OnDemand. The options posted by Eddie are not available in Jira OnDemand because Customising Email Content is a Restricted Function in OnDemand and so is installing the plugin.

There are other Jira hosted cloud environments that will allow you to configure Jira like self hosting. It might be worth looking at. Some provide free migrations from OnDemand.

Hi Mauro,

Thanks for your quick response. Kindly see the below example to get a better understanding of this issue.

In the subject of an email notificaiton "[Confluence] Computational Infrastructure for Translational Research", 'Computational Infrastructure for Translational Research' is project's full name.

Project's full name is currently auto selcted as the notifications subject.

This is often too long to read and inconvenient on mobile devices. So, I prefer to use abbreviated project key ('CITR' in the above example) for email notification subjects.

I would like to know how to change the project key as notification subject instead full project name.

That documentation is for OnDemand so you should be able to perform the functions as a Project Admin. As a matter of fact, it is already set up. Notifications are already being sent and received. It doesn't contain information on changing the Subject though.

Let us know if you have a specific problem with it.

Thanks for your response. The problem was It is inconvenient for the users getting email notifications with very large project title as a subject. I need to use the project key instead of full project title. One of my colleagues suggested me to follow the below link but I am unable to do this.

I believe you will need to create your own email template.
