I am investigating whether we can be able to display the status of our JIRA tickets in our public confluence pages. Please provide any steps and/or links to resources on this.
Thanks,

Yes! Use Jira issues macro to insert the required Jira issues into your Confluence page. This macro has a status column which helps the users know of the status of the issues. Here is a link to how to.
The security level of the issues you want to include must be public (or whatever your company has customized it to).
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response @Sireesha Dugginapeddi [Appfire] Our Jira issues have restricted access. Is there a viable way to still be able to display them publicly via confluence without reducing the security level?

Yes, but it will respect permissions - the account doing the reporting needs to be able to see the Jira issues.
