I want to hide user email addresses from other users. When "@" mentioning someone it shows their Full Name followed by their username. When sending invites to users from Cloud "Atlassian Site administration" the email is sent to default the username to their email, thus exposing their email to other users in mentions. Is there a way to default the invite email to their full name or to pre-set their user name before clicking "Create Users"?
If no, then my only recourse is:
I'm guessing selecting "hidden" against user email visibility within System > General settings doesn't work?
Yes, I've already set that "hidden" setting and it does remove the email from the People Directory but it does not hide the email address from the "@" mention if the user's account name is their email address.

Ahh.. Yeah. I think using an email address as a username would only work if the instance is soley used internally by the company and no 3rd parties are involved. I would decide to edit/re-create and migrate.
I would also refrain from sending invites, I would create them and inform them of their new account to stop the chance of exposure.
I am assuming you are not using googleapps for user management. Though if you went in house and used AD/LDAP you could do what you would like. Though to be honest I would change using email addresses full stop. Most instances are multi tenanted, though you could look at the global permissions: https://<ADDRESS>/secure/admin/GlobalPermissions!default.jspa and only allow a particular group to be allowed to see/mention users until the user is created and eddited and then add them to that group once complete

Hi Darren,
"I would also refrain from sending invites, I would create them"
Unfortunately this is Cloud and you cannot create them, you can only invite. You enter their Full Name and email address and in the Cloud case it defaults their link to join using their email as the username. This is precisely the problem.

The best recourse, if the answer is no, is to do #2 as I can change the username myself, yet the user can still log in using their email address.
