Confluence page gadget - error render JIRA chart

Dante Labate August 7, 2018

Hi Community!

I'm trying to put a confluence page with the JIRA panel.

For this, I added the JIRA gadget at the confluence
(https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/registering-external-gadgets-204050482.html)

I was able to create a page at the confluence of how I wanted the panel (the graphics appear as expected and desired)

When I go to JIRA and add the "Confluence page gadget" gadget, the graphics are not displayed. Instead, the following message appears.

"Can not render the JIRA chart macro due to a run-time error."

I tried with the gadgets:
Pie chart (does not load)
JIRA (works if table (list of problems) if chart does not work).
Filter results (do not load)

Am I doing something wrong?

JIRA 7.1.7
Confluence 5.9.12

Hi Dante,

I don't have an expectation that this would always work.  The Confluence Page Gadget does have limitations in regards to having other macros work inside of it.  These are listed in the documentation of Confluence Page Gadget.

Why exactly are you attempting to nest a Jira macro inside a confluence gadget, inside another Jira gadget on a Jira dashboard?   If Jira instance is the same througout this scenario, I think it would be easier to just display the Jira gadget data directly in the Jira dashboard without the use of Confluence at all.  I am confident that I am missing something here.  Perhaps you can help elaborate the purpose here so that I can better understand the desire here.

I would be interested to see if we can look at both the Jira logs and the confluence logs when this error occurs.  I am interested to see if there is some more details errors in the logs that might help indicate a clear stacktrace or error message aside from the one you have mentioned so far.

Regards,

Andy

Hi @Andy Heinzer

Thank you for your interest in helping me.

My need comes down to having a JIRA dashboard lined up.

The JIRA layout is limited compared to the layouts we can create on a confluence page.

the idea was to create a structured dashboard on a confluence page and display it on JIRA.

Is there any other way to get the same result (a Dashboard aligned)

I would even accept plugins/addons/apps suggestions
