This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: File List Blueprint
How do you delete a file from the File List page if that file is no longer relevant? It seems to be confusing people that go to the page and see something that no longer exists?
Thanks,
Rebecca
Hi Rebecca,
All the files that appear on a file list page are attached to the page itself. If you want to remove them go to ... > Attachments and you can then delete the files you no longer need.
This page has more info about deleting attached files - https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Manage+Files
If you don't see a delete button, you may not have permission to delete files in that space. A space administrator will be able to grant you permissions to delete files.
When buttons aren't visible, it's impossible for users to know that they don't have permission. Please consider keeping buttons visible for all users, but disabling the buttons for users without permission. A tooltip can indicate that the user doesn't have permission to perform the associated action.
Without this type of affordance, it's impossible for users to tell whether they can't perform an action because of a permissions issue or because the action they're performing is on some other page. This leads to a great deal of needless, avoidable user frustration.
For example, I had to google to find out how to delete a file. This help page is great, but it would be unnecessary if the info were available within Confluence itself.
