How to become an administrator as member of a Trello board

My colleague who was an administrator no longer works at our company. Can I make myself an adminstrator? Of should I create a new Trello board now?

According to https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/making-a-user-an-admin-of-a-board/ "

Only board admins can make another board member an admin and all boards must have at least one admin."This would mean that you should create a new Trello board.
