Incorrect value in reporter, assignee and creator column in jiraissue table

Vishal Petkar January 29, 2024

Hello Everyone,

I am facing one issue with Jira

In reporter, assignee and creator columns of a jiraissue table getting invalid value like JIRAUSERXXXX.

These columns should have a value like vpetkar something like that username. This is happening for some of the records only.

These invalid values are showing correct username on view page of Jira but in gadget reports getting the invalid values.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If they are showing the right name on view, then they are not wrong.

Why are you looking at the database?  It is the worst possible way to do any reporting on Atlassian systems, precisely because of this sort of thing.

Reporting means, on Jira dashboard, while exporting report using gadgets that time I am getting the values of reporter as JIRAUSERXXXX.

I created a view where I map the reporter field to export the data in gadget report.

OK, I'm not sure what you mean by "map the reporter field to export the data in gadget report".

A dashboard contains a load of gadgets.  Some of them can display fields like the reporter and assignee.  There's no mapping or export in there.

Could you explain a little further?  Maybe a screenshot of a gadget doing this?  (Include the header so we know what type of gadget it is if it is not obvious, like the pie chart, but feel free to obscure text we don't need to see)

its a custom gadget I created like a custom field using a script.

Using .xml file I created this gadget, while add gadget on dashboard, it shows in a list.

From there I am adding it on dashboard and in that gadget, selecting the dates from and to, then using download report button, its downloading the issues for that particular date range in a excel file.

So to download this report, I have created a view in database and using that to export the data in excel file of custom gadget.

I am using better excel plugin to download this excel report

Ok, so the next question would be "what app are you using for this?"

But your last line mostly makes it irrelevant.  You say "I have created a view in the database".

Do not do that.  It is not going to do what you think it will.  You need to swap to a gadget that uses the Jira API to read the data.

(You have also invalidated your support agreement, but Atlassian are unlikely to refuse your support just because of a view)

I found the resolution in Jira itself, its not an issue, actually its a feature in new Jira version

That was one of the next couple of things I was going to mention if you could tell me that you had stopped using the database.  Deleted and anonymised users will not give you useful information when you read the database instead of the UI.
