JIRA Taxonomy Field value disable

James Olivo February 14, 2022

Is it possible to disable native JIRA field values in a pick list, we have a native JIRA field labeled "Taxonomy" across firmwide screens. I am using this field along with custom fields for our business, however would like to see if its possible on disabling some of the values in the native JIRA field to only show the user the relevant values vs showing the user all of the values.

Hey @James Olivo

Are you mentioning single select list ? If that is the case yes we can disable the custom field values in jira custom field, once disabled those wont be shown to users in create/edit screen.

You can get to see disable option in edit custom field "Context and default values" place

Thanks Vishwas, it looks like this jira field is a multiselect would that have any impact?, Definitely would like to limit the values in the list to relevant ones, just wanted to confirm we could scale back the number of values displayed for our audience.

@James Olivo  there wont be any impact in multi select field too. In Multiselect field we have parent and child field value, we can navigate to each of them and disable if not required.

The disabled field values will remain to show in the older issue in view only mode but when users try to create new issues the disabled ones will not be available.
