Hi,
I will like to know if anyone had set up a MAC address whitelisting and restriction on JIRA and Confluence?
1. I will like to know if it is possible for the MAC address restriction and whitelisting to be done on the cloud platform.
2. Is there any add-on or plug-in for JIRA or Confluence to enable this feature?
I am accessing this from a cloud platform without any actual server in place for any of the application and servers.
I am also using the free plan as of now, however, if required I am able to upgrade to a standard plan, or purchase the add-on or plug-in.
Apologize as I am still new to this product and learning it.
Thanks.
Hi Ivan,
welcome to Atlassian Community!
Probably you meant restricting access to Jira Cloud/Confluence Cloud by IP whitelists, MAC-adresses do not make any sense in this context.
As for IP address whitelisting there is a suggestion opened which is currently in status "future consideration".

Please also have a look here what Dave wrote about the topic.
Cheers,
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
Appreciate the recommendation you had given.
1 of the reason for MAC address restriction are our members are often on the go, and IP restrictions will be inflexible as users are switching IP address too often.
Therefore, one of the options that I am exploring was if we could restrict through MAC address instead of IP address, as it will be and easier access control to manage on our end.
Since we are using the cloud platform, we can't restrict access on firewall level or webserver level like apache.
I had read some other threads and it seems that IP whitelist seems to be an known issue for long with Jira/Confluence cloud
Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,
MAC addressen do not get passed on by routers - this approach just won't work.
I am afraid but the valid way would be an implemented as per IP basis like we dicussed above.
Cheers,
Daniel
