As I understand I should see a notification whenever someone shares, mentions, likes and comments on a watched page.
This does work if someone shares a page with me directly . It does not work if someone shares a page with a group of people.
Any ideas why this could be?
Btw: The groups and users are managed in Jira and synchronized to confluence
Hi Thomas,
Watching
As a slight clarification, watched pages will send you an an email notification if one of the following happens on that page:
(For more info, see Watch Pages, Spaces and Blogs)
You will only be alerted of shares and mentions if the page is being shared with you or you are the one mentioned.
Sharing
If a user shares a page using the Share button and shares with a group you're a part of, you should receive an email notification (Share a Page or Blog Post). If not, I recommend verifying your user is a part of that group with the following steps:
Hi Zak,
Email notifications work with no problems. My problem is with the notifications in confluence itself.
This works if I share or if someone shares with me explicitly (using my name) but does not work sharing with a group.
Doing this the person shared with is notified in the confluence notifications:
Doing this the person (persons who are members of that group) are not notified in the confluence notifcations (email only):

Ah, I see! I tested this in a Confluence 6.9.1 instance, and was able to reproduce the same behavior: pages shared with individual users send in-app notifications, while pages shared with user groups do not.
I found a known bug for this issue logged with our developers here: CONFSERVER-52729 – Share a page with group does not generate workbox notification for users. Unfortunately, the only known workaround at this time is to share the page with individuals. The bug ticket was closed by Product Management due to lack of activity, but you can still vote and comment on the ticket to give our developers more meaning surrounding the issue to possibly be fixed according to the Atlassian Bug Fixing Policy.
I have also internally linked this post to the bug, updated the ticket with a recent version, and notified the product team that this is still occurring.
Thank you,
Zak

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I commented on the existing issue.
Hope this gets fixed sometime as it makes the workbox almost usless...

Seems this is still not fixed. Bummer... In our organization this is big bug since we share most pages with groups, not individuals.
