Recomendations installing confluence, jira, Greenhopper and bamboo on one or more (virtual) debian linux machines?

We were purchasing 10-user-licenses of jira, confluence, greenhopper and bamboo. We are a project team of 6 employees. We are running virtual debian Linux servers (VMware ESX) where we plan to install these 4 server applications. Is it possible to install them onto one single Linux server (ressource requirements?) or are we recommended installing the software on more virtual machines? (If yes, on how many? How should we distribute these applications?)

It is possible to install all of them in the same server - there are no incompatibility between the applications that would prevent that. But I'd still advise you to try to split the applications between at least two VMs (one for JIRA+GreenHopper and one for Bamboo+Confluence) or three VMs (keeping the database in a third one so it won't need to share the processor - but keep it in the same environment, so you won't have latency issues). Since you'll also be using GH, adding 512mb to the JIRA heap should suffice the requirements for it.

As mentioned in the support case:

For a 10 user license, they can all run in the same (virtual) server if it is provided with enough memory. I think 4GB RAM should be enough for it (6GB if you want to have some room to escalate). Two processors should also be enough to run everything. Please make sure your intensive processes (back ups, builds,...) run over night (or any idle period) and at different times not to affect your user experience.

This is for a normal use of a small instance. If you are planning to have 100 spaces/projects and JIRA and Confluence are going to be publicly available and receiving lots of traffic you will need higher specs. Some Bamboo jobs can also be heavy on the processor.
