What does this error mean - TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'outerHTML')

Niall Poole March 26, 2025

Hi,

I do a number of Confluence pages that combine data from different sources.

Typically I use an SQL Query for one table and a JIRA query for another, then use Table Transformer to run an SQL query based on both tables.  (I may nest the JIRA table in it's own Table Transformer to convert some fields, date formats etc - I just find it easier than doing it all in one.)

I'll often nest the outer Table Transforer in a Pivot Table and then Chart from Table macro to group and display the results.

More and more, I'm seeing this error when I first load a page:

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'outerHTML')

It seems to come from the lowest level table (or most deeply nested) and the outer macros show the 'Oops' no data error. It doesn't always show and when it does I can usually click the 'Refresh' link on the JIRA query and it reloads properly.

Any offers what's going on and how I might resolve it? Is it a performance issue or something else - it does seem to happen more when there's more than one of these charts on the same page.

Niall.

Hello @Niall Poole,

It is my understanding that you use the app that we develop - Table Filter, Charts & Spreadsheets for Confluence

Let me kindly ask you to reach out to our support portal and provide the page storage format, so we can analyze your specific case in more detail.
