Hi Community,
our company currently has both Jira Software and Confluence on server deployment. We start our cloud migration only with Confluence – Jira Software will follow later in 2021 or maybe 2022.
I superficially read about Application Links and found many resources that confirm that linking cloud and server is not a problem in principle.
BUT
1.) I haven't found out what happens to Jira Issue links in Confluence, nor what happens to Confluence Page links in Jira Issues when Jira is running on premises and Confluence is in the cloud.
2.) What happens to Confluence Public Shared Links from the Add-On "Comala Share it", when we move to cloud?
Can somebody help me with that?
(My priority question is number 1)
Thank you guys – stay safe and healthy
Hi Marvin,
Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to meet you!
After migrating the Server data to the Cloud site, the page links in Confluence will still point to Jira Server.
It is best to create application links by following the article, Linking to another application to resolve any Jira Macros that might break after migrating from Server to Cloud.
I hope that clarifies things for you, but let me know if you have any questions.
Shannon
Hey there @Shannon S ,
Thank you for your reply.
That sounds good. What about Jira Issues, which are embedded into a confluence page regarding the hybrid setup (Confluence Cloud <> Jira Server)?
Kind regards!
Marvin

Hi Marvin,
The storage format of the Jira issues macro on a page refers to the server ID and name of the linked Jira site. When a migration goes smoothly, it automatically updates the storage format to the new linked Jira server, provided they're set up correctly at the time of import.
In some situations, for whatever reason, this doesn't work as expected. Perhaps the migration didn't complete correctly, or application links have some issue. There's a great knowledge base article on this called, How to bulk update Jira issue macro to point to a different Jira instance. The article includes information on how the macro should appear in your database.
If you find your Jira issue links break after migrating to Cloud, raise a ticket with the Atlassian Migration Support team so we can correct the issue for you.
I hope that helps!
Take care,
Shannon

Welcome to the community. I'm the Senior Product Manager at Comalatech.
I wanted to let you know that currently we do not have plans to create a Cloud version of Comala Share It. You can view the pages that are currently accessible via Comala Share It by accessing Global Administration > Comala Share It > Links Overview
Regarding your other question, I'm afraid I don't have the answer, have you looked at https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Atlassian-Cloud-Migration/qa-p/atlassian-cloud-migration-questions
Kind regards

Hey @James Conway,
thanks – this is great info.
We shared a bunch of Confluence pages via your solution with our customers. So I'm afraid that these won't be accessible to our customers in the future, right?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Marvin,
Your existing links will stop working once you stop running your Confluence Server instance with Share It installed.
As you are moving to Confluence Cloud, you may be interested in the 'Public Links' feature that is being introduced in Confluence Cloud Premium:
