Join the Open beta for Atlassian Command Line Interface (ACLI)

Hello, Enterprise Community! I’m Zhenis Beisekov from the Jira Platform Product Management team, here to share an exciting announcement for Jira Cloud.

We have just launched our Open Beta program for the Atlassian Command Line Interface (ACLI) and invite you to join!

What is ACLI?

ACLI is a command-line tool that unlocks a new way for you to interact with Jira, using text-based commands and scripts to complete tasks. Included in all Jira plans, ACLI offers you unparalleled speed and precision for operating effeciently at scale.

ACLI helps you:

  • achieve faster results by automating bulk operations and running them in parallel.

  • increase workflow control with precise command execution and customizable scripting.

  • stay focused with a single, streamlined experience that reduces app switching.

  • minimize errors by validating scripts before execution and performing accuracy checks.

Who can participate?

Anyone on any Jira Cloud plan! Admins and technical users may get the most out of ACLI with the speed, control, and flexibility it unlocks for managing their Jira environment. Participants will get early access and help us shape the future of ACLI with valuable feedback.

How long will the Open Beta last?

The Open Beta will be available until ACLI reaches general availability.

How do I sign up?

Getting started with ACLI is easy! Follow these steps to join the Open Beta:

  1. Sign up via this form (required for ACLI to work)

  2. Visit the ACLI documentation page for installation instructions

  3. Start using ACLI to complete Jira tasks

Hey @Zhenis Beisekov

Quick question: When GA be started, will be ACLI available for all plans or only enterprise plans?

Thanks!

@Fernando Eugênio da Silva, ACLI is planned to be released to all users regardless of their plan.

Thanks @Zhenis Beisekov I have signed up.

Yeah, this is the 2nd post I see in the Enterprise group and was confused if it is for Enterprise customers or all ... Thanks for confirming.

Also, how will ACLI be different to Forge?

Also, how would users authenticate with the ACLI? Assuming with another API token generated from the UI?

Thank you

Yatish

Hi @Zhenis Beisekov ,

Will it be available for Jira or the other atlassian product integration (such as confluence) will also be added in future? Is there any roadmap planned for this?

@Yatish Madhav

  1. The ACLI is primarily designed for Enterprise customers, as they often require such an advanced tool. However, it is available for use by everyone.

  2. Forge is a platform for app development. While we strive to make it as user-friendly as possible, it is still intended for developers. On the other hand, the CLI is designed for technically savvy users who may not necessarily have developer skills. Even developers who lack the time to build an app can benefit from using the CLI.

  3. Authentication can be performed using either an API token or OAuth. For more details, refer to the Atlassian CLI.

@Sumit Parakh

The name says it all—it’s Atlassian CLI, not just Jira CLI! 😊

What other products or commands would make your life easier? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Quick Feedback, viewing Project Lists has switched Data for Key and Name.

Additional requirements:

  • A true clone would help which includes all data, attachments and cloning of link relations within the selection
  • Edit workitems - copy data or value from one field to another
    • We are in the process of harmonizing fields, and we need to migrate valued from one field to another for around 80k issues. With Bulk change it would take ages, with Automation, as well. So I am glad this is just coming up :)
  • documents limits on how many objects can be cloned or edited, or if a runtime is the limit

That would be it for at least now.

Thanks a lot

Sascha
