I am trying to create an idea on the JIRA Product Discovery board (CDP-PD) as soon as a new request (trigger ticket) is placed in another JIRA project (CDP). I have been able to create an automation rule for that and its working perfectly.

We also have the Delivery tab on the JPD Idea which enables us to link an existing JIRA ticket from another  JIRA project

How can I link the trigger ticket to the Delivery tab of the idea in the JPD using the same automation rule.

I am attaching the picture of the automation rule that has been created on the source project (CDP). I need the delivery section of the idea in the destination project  CDP-PD to contain the link  of the issue from CDP.Automaton Rule for JPD.png

Hi @Ujjwal Patro -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

For a question like this, context is important for the community to help.  Please post the following:

  • an image of your complete automation rule in a single image for continuity
  • images of any relevant actions / conditions / branches
  • an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution
  • explain what is not working as expected and why you believe that to be the case

Until we see those...

When creating an issue in software project, a rule in that project can detect it and create the link to a JPD Idea at the same time.  For example, let's assume we want to create an Idea for a new Epic:

  • trigger: issue created
  • action: re-fetch issue
  • condition: issue type equals Epic
  • action: create issue
    • select the JPD project for the issue
    • select the issue type of Idea
    • provide a Summary
    • select the Linked Issues field from the dropdown list, with the options of
      • the link type: "is implemented by"
      • the issue: Trigger Issue

Kind regards,
Bill

Please see my first post describing how to add the link in the Create Issue action.
