Updating custom fields with automations in Product Discovery

Hey,

I wrote an automation that updates an issue after creation. It sends a web request and appends a parameter from the response body to the issue. When I add the response parameter as a comment, it works fine. However, when I try to add the same parameter to a custom field, I get the following error message:

Edited work item successfully, however some of the set fields aren't available. Fields ignored: Test URL (customfield_10743).
The field is available on the issues screen, and when I copy the URL from the comment and paste it manually into the field, it works perfectly.
I used the Edit work item action and selected the field (Test URL).

Hi @Moritz

This behavior could be related to a bug we have with JPD and automations where the Automation for Jira service account doesn't have the proper permissions to perform edit actions on JPD projects:

To confirm this, could you try to change the automation actor to your own account and see if the automation runs properly afterwards?

Cheers,

Hey Manu, thanks for the update. Changing the actor works for me, thank you very much. Will you provide a solution for this issue?

Glad to hear it worked!

And yes, once the bug has been fixed, you should be able to use the Automation for Jira service account for your automations that involve JPD.

We can also temporarily help you out if you raise a ticket with us at https://support.atlassian.com/contact and mention this particular bug as we have an internal workaround that can address this permission issue.

Cheers,
