Admin profile versus User profile

I am an admin for our Jira Service Desk environment.  I created a user profile to be able to run tests while I configure and manage team projects.  For some reason, even though I use different email addresses and login information, Jira is not allowing me to keep the accounts totally separate.  I need to be able to keep the accounts distinct.  Does anyone know why they are linked somehow?  I've double checked my profiles and email addresses but cannot see where they are connected, unless it's because my test email is directed to my work email (used for the admin login).  HELP!

Hi Jennifer,

On Jira Cloud it's not possible to merge accounts, so indeed it's odd what is happening.
Have you tried to log in at the same time on both accounts? For example, log in normally with your admin account on the browser that you are using and open an incognito window and log in with your test email and check if there is any difference between the accounts.
When you log in with your test account if you open your profile, does it show the incorrect email?

Regards,
Angélica

Thanks Angelica - I can log in to the system as an admin, and when I log in using an incognito window everything works fine.  Still not sure why it wouldn't work without the incognito option, but I'm happy at this point.

Hi Jennifer,

When using incognito, you are logged out of all accounts, so when you login in Jira, you are login with the correct account.
What may be happening is that when you are using Jira in normal mode on your browser, somehow you are being redirected to Jira with your non-admin account.
Can you please clear your browser cache and try to login with your admin account again?

Regards,
Angélica

Understood - and the incognito option has been working.

When I have been in normal mode, I was manually entering the login information for each session - admin v. non-admin - but found that after a time, when I would log in to the non-admin session, somewhere along the way, I would see that it had switched it to admin while I was actively in the session.  It was weird.

I will look into clearing the browser cache, but I'm also happy to just keep using the incognito option.

Thanks again for the help!
