Best Way to send issue back for approval if issue is edited?

Bill Almeda February 11, 2019

I am wondering what the best way would be to transition an issue back to a status that requires an approval if a particular field is changed after the issue has already been approved.  I'm guessing this can be done somehow with script runner either via a listener or something along those lines.  Essentially I'd like to have it so if a certain field or fields are changed while in a status before implemented, then send the issue back through the approval process.

Just add a transition back to the approval status in your workflow. Call it Reapprove or something similar. Then use automation to trigger on the field changing to the specific value.

@Bill Almeda, I need to update my instructions here. The OOTB Automation does not allow you to trigger on a field change. You would need an addon for that. I use Automation for Jira for these purposes but there are other solutions for sure. You may already have an addon that would allow you to do this, e.g. Scriptrunner.

Credit to @Susan Hauth _Jira Queen_ for pointing out my oversight!! Thanks Susan.
