Hi community,
right now, the counter-logic of ticket IDs gets up one by one. SD-1, SD-2, SD-3, and so on.
Is it possible to change this counter-logic into a random counter? SD-268, SD-9864, SD-4, SD-30, and so on?
And if so, does this influence the counter logic of our JIRA Software projects or can I set this only for the ServiceDesk?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers, Lars
that's an interesting request which I've never seen before.
Unfortunately, I don't think that this is possible. Here's a post where it is explained how you can modify the counter - so you could increase it from time to time to have it jumping in numbers, but I would refrain from decreasing it.
Could you describe why you want this behavior? Then the community might help you maybe in another way.
Cheers,
Matthias.
thank you for your reply. I think your link could be a first "quick and dirty" workaround...
Our support team had the wish to randomize the ticket-IDs so it would be harder or impossible to make a conclusion of the number of tickets in ServiceDesk.
We are afraid that our customers could think "wow, already 1400 bugs in this servicedesk... what are they doing?" without knowing, that there are also a lot of support requests and feature requests.
Cheers,
Lars

Hi @Lars Blaschka,
glad I can help.
However, if you only increase it, the number would be only higher - so I'm not sure if that's what you want. I would rather recommend explaining your customer that you don't only track bugs in the service desk.
Cheers,
Matthias.
