Cloning existing Project

Ravi Gunaratne June 11, 2020

Hi ALL,

I am looking for a solution to clone existing projects with existing configurations like issue type, work flows,  automation rules without existing tickets to new project.

As a requirement we have to setup the projects as per the Year. Example change2020, Incident2020 and Problem2020.

So next year we need to clone existing project and change the project key to 2021 and archive the existing project.

Regards,

Ravi.

Hello Ravi,

When you create a new project you have the option to create it sharing the configuration of an existing project, and then specifying the project that has the configuration you want to use.

That will create the new project linking it to the same workflow scheme, issue type screen scheme, notification scheme, permission scheme, etc. of the specified source project.

I don't believe that will automatically carry the Automations to the new project though. You might have to recreate those manually.

I will try this method. Will update you. Thank you for the help.

Hello @Ravi Gunaratne welcome to the community. There is no way to copy everything you mention. I would rather have one active project over the years and if you are really interested on archiving old issues have a second project to do that. Later with queries you can filter years and issue types.
