I am building a Jira Service Desk solution to service our external customers Support (bug and enhancements) process. In this case, I've started down the route of creating a project for a specified customer. My goal was to limit the visibility of a Portal to Project, and that specific Customer. Ultimately, I do not want (nor, contractually, can I) expose the customer names to other customers.
Some of the documentation I read relates to setting Customer Permissions; however, there appears to be no configuration controls in the Project Settings relating to Customer Permissions. I wonder if this is related to the "next gen" nature of the Project creating, and these controls have not yet been plumbed in to the "next gen" projects?
My basic question ... am I going about this completely wrong? I had assumed from what I was reading that I should be able to create a Customer Organization, assign Customers to that Org, and then restrict the views to that project to only a given Customer Org (or organizations)??
It appears that every time I create a Customer Organziation, it's visible across all projects. Additionally, the "landing portal page" appears to reference all Projects and this exposes customers to all of the custom Projects created for our customers.
Thank you in advance for any thoughts and directions. I apologize if this was covered somewhere else, but I've spent the better part of a few days poking around trying to make this work (and reading documentation), but have not been able to resolve how to do this.
I do not believe you can limit the view of a customer portal to specific individuals with Jira out-of-the-box. The add-on Extension For Jira Service Desk may assist with restricting view.
If you are giving these individuals licenses and allowing them to see more than the customer portal then you should be able to restrict views to individual projects.
But are you trying to restrict non-licensed users from viewing the customer portal or are you trying to restrict project views from licensed users?
Raynard,
Thank you for the quick reply. My goal is for non-licensed users (customers) to be restricted in view to a given Project, and ultimately only able to see the specified Project or Projects they are allowed by permission to view. This also extends to what the "portal" views show - a given customer (external non-licensed customer) can see.
Hopefully that makes more sense?
Thanks,
~~shane
