Is it possible to connect the jira service cloud with jira software server hosted on two separate instances?

I only see this link that says how to combine 2 separate instances of Jira service desk:

You can, but if your Server instance isn't internet accessible, you probably don't want to. You would need to allow inbound internet traffic from the IP ranges in this doc. I'd bet your InfoSec team won't be very excited to open that much inbound access.

You'd also need something to sit in the middle and handle linking, etc.
