Connecting two JSD Servers

Hey, newb to JSD and we have a bit of an architecture issue we are dealing with.

Our Security team is having a meltdown about the single server architecture for the agent and portal components.

Our solution is to have 2 separate (internal/external) JSD instance. Sensitive data will remain in the internal server and the external server is essential portal information which is cutback and limited to basic ticket information.

Both servers will not have a direct connection to each other and we want a middleware application to manage interactions.

We are investigating OpsGenie to provide the integration between the two to manage the interconnect via the OpsGenire Edge Connector. Is this the right way to go? Would anyone suggest secure ways of handling this situation?
