We have some custom status' in our workflow, how do you set it to auto send an email as it does for the default status like Resolve this issue or Cancel request?

Here if you are using the cloud, once you add a custom status in the workflow and then publish it with all transitions between that status then automatically it triggers a mail when ever issue transition to this status.
Where as in server we have other case i. e., we need to check the notification scheme in the notification scheme you mush check for the the issue transitioned notification there you need to copy which event it is triggered. For example if it is triggering issue status event then in the postfunction of that workflow you can have by default as fire event postfunction, there you can select it and make it as issue status event and this postfunction should be at last of all. This would work.
