E-mail not pulled from gmail queue

We have Jira Servicedesk configured to pull the mail from a special email address. This works fine for all email addresses but one that has the form:

poboxp&c@customer.com

The & in the email address is legal, but the mail is not being processed. It is also not possible to add this email address as a customer. This will give the following error:

1 email had errors and couldn't be sent:

How can I accomplish adding this customer and receive emails from this customer?

Hi Thomas,

I've checked that you opened a ticket with our support related to the same question and it was already closed.
The characters '&' is not valid for a username, so it was not possible to add on "Add customers".
The workaround provided was to add the customer as a user but without application access and then add the customer to the project.

Sorry that we took so long to answer here, but we are glad that it was resolved.
