Email in the share with being asked a password to see the ticket

Cihan Altunok March 24, 2020

Hi ,

We are adding an email to Share With list but a password being asked before the user can see the ticket. Our understanding was a Share with contact gets a URL to the ticket for which he can have direct access without any login in.

Please confirm

Thanks

Hello @Cihan Altunok

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Actually, the "Share with" field in the customer portal does not create a URL only accessible by the user mentioned in the field. Instead, it allows the customer to share the request based on the option selected under project settings > Customer permissions:

1 - Other customers in their organization. This option only allows them to search for customers in their organization.

2 - Any customer in the project, by manually entering an email address.

3- Any customer or organization, by searching this project. This option allows them to search all customers in the current project.

That being said, to allow the sharing of tickets with non-logged users you need to allow Public Sign-up in your service desk application. This will allow anyone that has your portal URL to access your customer portal and create tickets, also allowing your customers to share issues with anyone.
