The goal is to be able to see the status of the linked tickets in a Service Desk queue. For example, in the attached screenshot on the 2nd line, that status of "On Hold" is the status of PS-173. Currently, we are not able to see the status of the linked ticket, FISPSE-573, in this view. Same with PS-161. We would like to see that status of FC-9973 in this view.
Is this possible with JQL? Or is a plugin required?

The closest search would be using Scriptrunner "IssueFunction" that has advanced jql. I don't think it will display the linked status but you can filter on issues where the linked issue has a status = X.
