I would like to know how to don't show project sprints in plans

David Jimenez June 30, 2023

I'm starting to use plans and I have a doubt, when I've created a plan and I group by teams, then in the timeline shows a project sprints... and I don't know how to replace for the correct sprints...

I mean I would like to select the correct dates for the sprints, not projected.. or at least doesn't show the project sprints.

Thanks

Hi @David Jimenez,

When your plan displays sprints, that is most likely because there is a scrum board defined as (one of) the source(s) for your plan. Sprints are an essential part of scrum planning and so Advanced Roadmaps will display those as a consequence. Following best practice, sprints have a fixed length and the tool will indeed project the sprints you have not created yourself for the future yet. When you add sprints to your board's backlog in Jira, advanced roadmap will display them in the plan instead.

To set up sprints properly:

  • Make sure you have a scrum board in Jira to do sprint based planning there (in a company managed project);
  • Create a couple of sprints in the board backlog so you can plan at least 2 or 3 sprints in the future;
  • Set the scrum board as a source for your advanced roadmaps plan (see plan settings > issue sources)

If on the other hand you don't want to do sprint planning, replace your scrum board with kanban. That way your planning will become purely time based.

Hope this helps!
