Hopefully this is a simple question. I have one client asking to see the assigned agent in the customer portal. Is there a way to do this?

Jira Service desk doesn't do it out-of-the-box. You will have to install any add-on.

@Gikku beat me to it. I recommend Extension for Jira Service Desk to every single JSD client.
For me, the main reason I recommend it as a critical add-on is for the ability to show/hide fields based on selections in other fields (Dynamic Forms), but there are many additional benefits, like the ability to show the assignee in the portal.\
