Notification for request participant

Hi,
In Jira, if I added or removed someone as a request participant, so those request participants will get notifications?

Same for Watcher if I added or removed someone as a ticket watcher, so those watchers will get notifications?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Gajanan Sasane,

In Jira Service Management, request participants will receive notifications if that specific notification is enabled in your JSM project (find these in Project settings > customer notifications):

If you remove them, you exclude them from the ticket. And so they will no longer receive notifications.

Watchers are internal users. So as long as you are aware that only internal users can be added as watchers to a ticket, the following applies:

Notifications to watchers are configured through the notification scheme of your project (find this in Project settings > Notifications). Watchers are notified of changes for any events where you enable All watchers to be notified.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout,

Thanks for your answer,

I have a doubt on If a watcher is added to a watcher list, does the notification go to the watcher? Just like when you add a request participant.

Hi @Gajanan Sasane,

As I explained above: if the notification scheme of your project is configured so that notifications are sent to All Watchersand your watchers are licensed Jira users, then yes.

Also note that your notification scheme contains many different events to send notifications for (issue created, issue updated, comment added, comment edited, ...). You must ensure that you configure notifications for all the events according to your needs.

Maybe an interesting addition to that: should you be unsure as to certain people are receiving notifications on a certain event, you can use the notification helper to verify that. It allows you to test if a certain user should be getting a notification when a specific event occurs for an issue.
